Lamborghini Urus: The world’s first ‘super sports’ SUV – yours for £160,000
We all knew the Urus was coming and, thanks to both its resemblance to the concept and the plentiful spyshots, we knew pretty much what the world’s first “Super Sport Utility Vehicle” (according to Lamborghini) would look like.
Given its production required a doubling in size of the Lamborghini factory there was, of course, little chance Lamborghini could keep its entry to the SUV field a secret. And now the Urus is here, ready to reach its first customers early in 2018.
For the numbers fetishists, the Urus is claimed to be capable of 190mph, with 0-62mph acceleration in 3.6 seconds.
And what else are they going to get? Well, not a car for making understated progress, that’s for sure. But since when have Lamborghini buyers wanted that? Rather than emulate the bawdy and over-the-top LM002 4×4 of the early Eighties it’s decided instead to follow Porsche’s lead with its all-conquering Cayenne…
