Chipper Jones gives thanks to all who helped him reach Hall of Fame
After a remarkable 19-year career with the Atlanta Braves, Chipper Jones knew the call from the Hall of Fame would be coming Wednesday.
But he still wasn’t ready for it.

“I got that (area code) 212 call from New York, and my eyes got this big,” Jones said. “I can’t describe it. It was one of those spine-tingling, chill-bump moments that you just can’t describe.”
In a press conference Wednesday night, Jones was humble and appreciative.
“I want to thank all the writers; it blows my mind that 97 percent of you guys voted for me,” said Jones, who was named on 410 of 422 ballots cast by writers. “I want to express my gratitude on this day, for giving a small-town kid an unbelievable dream of making it to the Hall of Fame.”
